Enter Springtime - Pink Jasmine is in full bloom!!!

It's about that time of year again in Pasadena, where spring time is signaled by apple blossoms, plum blossoms, cherry blossoms, wisteria, and of course Pink Jasmine. It's one of our favorite smelling flowers and you'll find it blooming all over Los Angeles right now. Grab a sprig for your bedside table and enjoy.

もう５月ですね。
こっちに天気が少し暖かい,
でもそれはよい感じです。
レンキンガーデンにバラバラは深く花が咲いていました。
まだ終わってないです。
レンキンガーデンのバラは、昨年、４月で花が咲きました
今年天気がもっと寒いです。
それからバラの花が遅くな咲いてました。
今年、レンキンガーデンのバラがより多くの花を持っている
そして彼らももっとより大きく感じます。
バラのため、庭は素晴らしいにおいがします

Springing Forward

It's the first week of Spring, and the season has not been shy in its arrival. Just last week the Lenkin Gardens were still sleeping through a chilly and damp winter, with mainly the narcissus awakening early. But with a sudden heat wave with temps in the 80s, the gardens have burst into amazing floral scents, colors, and textures.

We've been really busy with the projects here at the studio, but it's hard to resist taking a break to shoot some beautiful blooms here.

We found him in Arcadia where all of the Wisteria sinensis 'Cooke's Special' is blooming.

It's probably safe to say that the gardens here are at their least presentable during the winter months. Though even in their dormant and pruned state, there's still plenty to see and smell, and it's certainly a far cry from the monochrome landscape of colder climes...

Deep burgundy abutilon and sizzling pink loropetalum forsage spring.


Narcissus tete-a-tete poke up from a bed of nasturtium.


Osmanthus fragrans' tiny but potent blossoms lace the gardens with that unmistakeable peaches and cream scent, mingling with the first jasminum polyanthum blooms. And the pittosporum undulatum are just about to start popping!

Lluvia Bienvenida

Ya estamos en pleno invierno, estilo californiano. Es decir, intervalos nublados, algo de lluvia, y aún mucho sol. Sin embargo hemos de decir que "algo de lluvia" últimamente se ha convertido en ser cuatro chubascos fuertes (con tres más previstos para esta semana) y frío suficiente para que nevara en la cercana sierra de San Gabriel.

Es agua muy necesaria en una región que es técnicamente un desierto- pero sí los jardines han sufrido un poco debajo del martilleo; pero al fin de cuentas son tenaces y siguen impertérritos en su camino hacia la primavera…

Send Flowers!

Or at least you can send pictures of flowers... very small pictures... on the postage stamps.

Several years ago, when we first heard about custom postage stamps, we thought it was a great idea, slapped our logo on some, and have been using them ever since. They look nice, but honestly, we've gotten bored of looking at them. When we saw how nice the pictures of Flora came out, we thought, sure let's put her on a stamp! Next thing we knew, we had a bunch. And yes, anybody can buy them, though we're not asking you to do our advertising for us... Or, make your own! And no, we're not affiliated with Zazzle in any way!

Sumer Is Icumen In

As the 13th century Middle English round suggests, Summer has definitely arrived, gently but unambiguously. Cupid's dart, Catanache caerulea, have gone from vibrant lavender splashes to dry seed pods of translucent bracts - beautiful either way...






Other garden denizens happy in the sun include:

This lavender is from the parkway of a former client; some parts of Southern California really can pass for the Mediterranean…
