Katrina House: Pass Christian, Mississippi

In collaboration with Cottage Living magazine, we are creating a garden around a new home in Pass Christian, Mississippi being built for a family of four whose previous home was sucked into the Gulf by a 30' tidal wave during Hurricane Katrina.  The garden will be used as a prototype for the entire area and will use volunteer labor and donated materials.  (Watercolor plan of the Katrina House, to the right and below.)

There is one church and one house nearby.  The closest city is Gulfport - a 45 minute drive!

The house will be on a 60' * 100' lot, built on piers 16' above sea level, four blocks from the beach.

The family of four, including a  3 year old

boy, 11 year old girl, and their mother and father are
understandably excited about the project and had some requests.

These include a play area, an
entertaining area, a firepit, an outdoor shower, a vegetable garden, a rose garden, parking, and a storage shed.
